Student Assessment

Modules are assessed through a variety of methods. At Level 1, each student will be assessed continually throughout the course to evaluate practical competence. Theoretical and practical knowledge will also be assessed at the end of the course when students will be presented with an ‘open book’ short test, practical assessments and tasking. On completion of the Level 2 syllabus students, must be capable of giving a live demonstration of specific therapeutic protocols/practices. Candidates will be required to demonstrate their practical skills in clinical hypnosis with respect to induction, deepening and the treatment of certain clinical problems.

Part of the final evacuation will involve observing a student being placed in a  ‘ role play ‘ situation where they are introduced to a client – taking the session from start to finish just as they would if running their own practice. This evaluation observes paperwork, process, services offered, processes, client homework and professional conduct.

Students must have completed Foundation Level (L1) to be accepted on the Diploma Course (L2). You will need to confirm you have completed Foundation Level (L1) if booking Diploma Level (L2). Once certified we will ask you to complete a feedback form to enable you to freely share your opinion of the course.

By asking for this information AFTER you are certified it allows students to speak openly about their experience knowing it has had no influence on the student’s certification. All feedback is encouraged (though non-obligatory). If you prefer – it can also be submitted anonymously.

We believe this is the fair way for us to learn from you as to how we can better improve our training delivery. We hope you agree with this ethos and will take the time to give detailed feedback (good/bad) – as well as include any suggestions.

Course Duration & Self Study Hours

By the time the Diploma (L2) student has reached the point of completing training to be issued with a certificate they will have completed around 120 hours teaching time. Though in reality an average of 450 hours training hours is more likely to have been achieved because we are also incorporating home/self-study through the whole course. Therefore self-study will be ongoing throughout the full duration of the course and will include reading, self-reflection, home study, written assessment, ‘open’ and ‘closed book’ tests, revision and case studies as well as commitment to further study for self progression/advancement.

We believe that self-study is essential for students to ascertain and fully comprehend the information taught and to develop as clinical hypnotherapists. This also allows students to explore particular areas of their own interest in the field of Clinical Hypnosis where relevant. All relevant self-study can be reviewed and discussed during supervision sessions as we believe it is vital that students gain continuous feedback and support during their studies in order to develop. Rest assured you are continuously being assessed and will be corrected (where required) for the purpose of attaining proficiency – anything less is unacceptable to us. During courses, real clients can be brought in to the classroom,  should this happen students will be required to sign Confidentiality Agreements.

CPD, Student Support Services & Supervision

CPD (career progression development) – is vital , therefore we will inform our students where to obtain information regarding career development in order that they can choose according to their needs.

Students should also note that supervisory sessions are part of the Practitioner /Diploma course, for the purpose of assisting students with any questions that may arise during / after training.   Supervision sessions may be undertaken either by phone or face-to-face. Students will be informed on how to seek out external events – such as networking conferences and seminars.

Feedback Forms

After completion of your course & certification : Once certified we will ask you to complete a feedback form to enable you to freely share your opinion of the course. By asking for this information AFTER you are certified it allows students to speak openly about their experience knowing it has had no influence on the student’s progression to certification.

Membership with the Regulatory Bodies

We encourage students to become members. We would recommend that each student joins at least one and at the level relevant to their training therefore we will work towards steering our students in this direction because of the values/ethics upheld by  such bodies which we embrace.

The ethos and ethics of joining will be fully discussed with students so that they are fully aware of the standards they as Foundation Level students and potential Practitioners, will be required to respect and adhere to. Students will be expected to confirm that they fully understand the ethos/ethics and what is expected of them regarding personal and professional conduct.

Therefore we will :

  1. Cover guidelines such as ethical practice and professional code of conduct and respect.
  2. Keep our students fully informed of new developments and training in the field of clinical hypnosis and brief strategic therapies.
  3. Interact with all our students on a regular basis based on our ethos that their time with us is just the first step to a rewarding and recognised career in hypnotherapy.

Recording client information

As clinical hypnosis becomes a more integrated and accepted therapeutic modality, there is a growing need for hypnotherapists and other health care professionals to gain access to specific medical information with respect to patient treatment and communication with their doctors. Therefore the recording of personal information of a client will be addressed often within course modules.

Professional Indemnity Insurance

Importance Explained to students

It is important that adequate professional indemnity insurance is acquired according to certification achieved. We are happy to provide suitable insurance providers to those holding Foundation/Practitioner status, and details of such insurance companies will be made available for independent suitability. With this is mind we strongly recommend that in order to comply with the highest ethical standards no-one should undertake clinical hypnosis in a professional capacity unless they have full insurance cover. This will be addressed during each module so there is no question that students understand the importance for protection of self and client.
